What is your reservation policy?

Full payment for reservations is taken on arrival. In the case of a group or family booking for more than one night the card holder will be responsible for the whole booking.

Do you accept group bookings?

Unfortunately we are unable to take group bookings and do not accept single sex bookings including Stag or Hen nights.

What is your cancellation policy:

Our cancellation policy is:
We need 7 days notice to cancel the booking.
We would naturally try to re sell the room in which case any payment would be refunded. We always suggest our guests take out holiday insurance.

What are your check-in times?

Check-in is after 2pm and check-out the following morning is 10am. Later check-in by prior arrangement, please be aware we are a small guesthouse and do not have 24 hr reception. Let us know when you are arriving in York and we will be here to welcome you. On the odd occasion when we are unable to recieve you personally we have a keypad at the front door and you can self checkin at your convenience.

When should we depart?

Guests are requested to depart around 10am. We can arrange to store luggage for you if you have travelled by train or bus.You may leave you car if we have no early arrivals needing the space.

Do you provide car parking?

We have 3 parking bays opposite the Cavalier on the cobbles under the trees.You need a numbered permit from us which must be clearly displayed. The parking bays are only subject to availability.

What kind of breakfast do you serve?

Unfortunately as of January 2017 we no longer serve breakfast, all accommodation is 'Room Only'.

Do you cater for children?

Children are always welcome,please don't leave your child unattended in the rooms and make sure they are supervised in the bathrooms and on the stairs.

Do you allow pets?

We are unfortunately only able to accommodate guide or hearing dogs.

What is your smoking policy?

As per the Government guidelines it is an offence to smoke in public so our premises are a smoke free area. You may be charged £50 from your card for cleaning if have been smoking in our bedrooms

What equipment do you provide?

We provide a high chair and travel cot for babies and toddlers.Hairdryers in all rooms,straightners on request.A small fridge can be placed in your room if requested.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Unfortunately we are unable to provide gift vouchers.

What time should we return at night?

We lock the front door between 10pm and 11pm but we will give you a front door key for both inner and outer doors on arrival.We also have a keypad outside incase you are locked out.Please call us on 01904 636615 for the current code number.If you are returning late please respect other guests may be sleeping and be as quiet as you can, thank you.

What are your fire regulations?

We have a new fire alarm system so do make yourselves aware of our instructions on your arrival.
